Create your account and link your number
Sign up, get your wallets, and connect your phone number to Mage.
You need an account before Mage can trade for you. You can start from a text message, or start on the Mage website. Both paths end in the same place: two wallets, and your number connected to them.
Start from a text
Text the Mage number. Mage answers with three messages, one time:
ma.ge/register?code=…
The link in the second message is yours. It carries a code that belongs to your number, so the account you create binds to that number by itself. You send no code back.
The register link works for 24 hours. Text Mage again after it expires and Mage sends a current link.
Until you sign up, Mage answers questions about what it does. It cannot look up a price, scan a token, or read a balance before you have an account.
Sign in on the website
You sign in with your phone number, your email, or Telegram.
Phone sign-in accepts United States numbers only at this time. Use email or Telegram for a number outside the United States. You can connect that number to your account after signup. The steps are below.
The website sends you a one-time code. Type the code to finish. When you sign in from a link Mage texted you, the website then offers Face ID for the next time. Face ID is optional. You can ask for a code by text instead.
What signup creates
Signup creates two wallets:
| Wallet | Chains |
|---|---|
| Solana wallet | Solana |
| Ethereum wallet | Robinhood Chain, Base, Ethereum |
The wallets are self-custodial embedded wallets. They are yours.
Signup also grants Mage a trading permission on those wallets. The permission is scoped to trading, you grant it one time at signup, and you can remove it. Mage is a policy-scoped signer: it signs what you approve in the thread, and nothing else. Your "yes" on the card is the approval.
Read more in Wallet and balances and Confirm and cancel.
After you sign up
If you texted Mage before you signed up, Mage texts you when your account is ready. Three messages arrive:
You can now trade memes, stocks, and perps through text.
0x…
The second message is your Ethereum address on its own, so you can copy it in one tap. That one address is your wallet on Robinhood Chain, Base, and Ethereum.
Stock tokens are Reg S instruments. They are not offered to US persons. See Stocks for what a stock token is and what fills today.
If you signed up on the website first and never texted Mage, no text arrives. Text Mage and start trading. To add funds, see Fund your account.
Link a number to an email or Telegram account
You made your account with email or Telegram, so it has no number yet. Link one from the website:
- Open the link page on the Mage website. It makes a code that starts with
MLNK-. - Tap "Text Mage to link". Your Messages app opens with the code in the message.
- Send the message from the number you want to link.
The link page waits for your text. Mage replies:
The code works one time, and for 24 hours. Mage reads the code before anything else in your message, so a code text is never read as a trade.
Four other answers are possible:
| Situation | Mage replies |
|---|---|
| You texted a code before you finished signup | Almost there — finish creating your account at the link, and you'll be connected automatically. No need to text back. |
| The code is old or wrong | That link code is expired or invalid. Grab a fresh one from the app and try again. |
| Your number belongs to another Mage account | This number is already linked to a different Mage account. Text us "help" if that's not right. |
| Your account already has a different number | Your account is already linked to another number. |
Mage never merges two accounts. A merge moves money, and that decision is yours. If your number belongs to a different account, the link fails and both accounts stay as they are.
Get a sign-in link by text
Ask Mage for a link to the website:
Mage texts you a sign-in link. The link carries your number, so the website sends the one-time code to your phone as soon as you open it. Type the code to sign in. On a phone with Face ID set up, the website asks for Face ID first, and "Text me a code instead" stays available. The link works for 24 hours, and it does not replace the code.
