Limits and guards

The caps and checks behind every card.

A card is not only a price. It is the result of a set of checks. Mage runs the checks before it draws the card. Mage runs them again after your "yes". If a check fails, Mage cancels and names the reason.

These guards are why you can trust the card. This page lists them, with the exact number and where it applies.

Every guard runs twice

The card comes from the first pass. Your "yes" starts the second pass. The second pass is plain code, not the AI. It reads your wallet, your balance and your holding again, then compares them to the card.

The second pass fails closed. If Mage cannot verify your wallet, your balance or your holding, it cancels the trade instead of guessing.

Trade size caps

CapWhere it applies
$500One memecoin trade on Robinhood Chain or Base
$2000One send to an outside address
$1000One bridge between chains

Over the memecoin cap, Mage cancels.

buy $900 of cashdoge
❌ That's over the per-trade memecoin cap — try a smaller amount.

The send cap applies when Mage can price what you send. Over it, Mage answers ❌ Over the per-send cap. Over the bridge cap, Mage answers ❌ Bridge cancelled — over the $1000 per-bridge cap.

Price impact

Price impact is how far your own trade moves the token price. On memecoins, Mage measures it before the fill and stops at 15%. This applies on Robinhood Chain and on Base.

buy $400 of cashdoge
❌ That size would move CASHDOGE's price too much — try a smaller amount.

A smaller amount can pass. The ceiling protects the price you get.

Slippage

Slippage is how far the fill price can move from the quoted price before the trade fails. Mage sets it per venue. You cannot change it by text.

VenueSlippage
Memecoins on Robinhood Chain3%
Memecoins on Base1%
Solana buys0.5%
Solana sells2%
Perps market orders1.5%

A perp order is a market order with a 1.5% price bound. In a fast market the order can stay unfilled instead of filling far from the quoted price.

Sells and closes are a percent

Every sell is a percent of what you hold, from 1 to 100. Every perp close is a percent of the position, from 1 to 100. You cannot sell a dollar amount.

sell 50% of my cashdoge
sell all my wif
close half my eth position

Outside 1 to 100, Mage cancels with ❌ Sell percent must be between 1 and 100 — trade cancelled. A perp close reads ❌ Close percent must be between 1 and 100 — trade cancelled.

Leverage

Leverage multiplies your losses as well as your gains. A leveraged position can be liquidated. Trade with money you can afford to lose.

You give the size in dollars and the side. Mage derives the leverage from your collateral and shows it on the card. The cap is 10x.

open a $400 eth long
❌ That size is over the leverage cap — size down or add collateral.

Add collateral or ask for a smaller size.

Perps minimums

ActionMinimum
First deposit to your perps account$5
Top-up from Robinhood Chain USDG$6
One orderSet by the market
WithdrawalAt least $5

Mage suggests $20 for a first deposit. Each perp market sets its own order floor, so the minimum order changes by market. Under the floor, Mage names the floor and asks for more.

The withdrawal minimum is at least $5, and Mage raises it when the venue fee is higher. The card shows the exact fee before you confirm. A small withdrawal is expensive in percent terms, because the fee does not shrink with the amount.

Gas stays in your wallet

A buy never spends your last gas. A memecoin buy on Robinhood Chain or on Base leaves 0.00005 ETH in your wallet, so you can always pay for the exit.

Every send of a native coin keeps a reserve back on that chain for the same reason. See Send crypto out for the amount per chain.

Pool checks

Before a memecoin trade, Mage checks the pool. Two answers stop the trade.

The pool can be too thin to fill your trade safely.

ape $50 into cashdoge
❌ CASHDOGE's pool is too thin to trade safely.

Mage can also fail to confirm that you can sell the token again.

buy $25 of cashdoge
❌ CASHDOGE failed the buy-simulation (honeypot behavior) — blocked for your safety.

On Base the same refusal reads failed the exit-route check. Both checks run again on the second pass, after your "yes".
