FAQ
Short answers to common questions.
I replied "yes" and nothing happened. Why?
Your card expired. A card lasts about 5 minutes. Ask for the trade again to get a new card.
What words count as "yes"?
Any one of these, on its own: yes, y, yeah, yep, yup, ye, ya, yea, ok, okay, k, kk, sure, bet, aight, fine, confirm, do it, send it, go, lets go, lfg.
How do I cancel a trade?
Reply with any one of these, on its own: no, n, nah, cancel, stop, nevermind, nvm, nope, dont, don't. Mage answers:
If you ignore the card, it expires on its own.
Does a thumbs-up count as "yes"?
No. A tapback or a heart reaction is not consent. You must send a word.
I asked a question with a card open. Did I lose the trade?
No. The card stays parked while Mage answers. Your "yes" still works until the card expires.
Can Mage trade without asking me?
No. Every trade shows a card first. Mage executes only after your "yes", and only after its own checks pass. See How Mage works.
Does Mage hold my money?
No. Your funds sit in your own self-custodial embedded wallets. At signup you grant Mage a scoped, revocable trading permission. Mage is a policy-scoped signer: it signs what you approve in the thread, and nothing else.
Why did Mage refuse my trade?
Most refusals are a guard doing its job: an empty wallet, not enough ETH for gas, a cap, too much price impact, or a token no lookup in this chat produced. Mage names the reason in the message it sends you. See Limits and guards.
Can I buy BTC or ETH?
Not on spot. BTC, ETH, SOL, XRP and other majors return a price card only. Mage offers a perp instead, long or short. See Perps.
Watch the ticker trap. On the memecoin chains, three letters often name a brand-new token, not the major — and Mage warns you:
What are the fees?
A trade quote already includes the route costs. The card shows what you pay and what you receive. A perps withdrawal carries a venue fee, and the card shows the exact fee before you confirm.
What is the minimum for perps?
$6 to top up perps from your Robinhood Chain USDG. For a first deposit of USDC on Base, send at least the amount Mage names in the setup message. A smaller amount does not credit. See Perps.
Where does my perps money land when I withdraw?
As USDG, in your own Robinhood Chain wallet. It arrives in about 1 to 3 minutes.
Can I pay a friend by text?
Yes. Paste their address into the message and name the amount. You must paste the address yourself — Mage never types, completes, or corrects one. See Send crypto out.
Can I cash out to my bank?
Not today. There is no fiat off-ramp. Send the crypto to an exchange deposit address and cash out there. See Send crypto out.
I sent USDC on Ethereum by mistake. What now?
Mage still texts you when it lands. There is no trading rail on Ethereum, so send the USDC out to an exchange or to another wallet of yours. See Fund your account.
Someone airdropped me a token and Mage said nothing.
Only listed assets produce a text. Every other token, including an airdrop, arrives in silence. Text "balances" to see everything you hold.
Does Mage answer in a group chat?
Only when your message says "mage" or "genie". Otherwise Mage stays quiet. Every member of the group needs their own account.
Can I use Mage on Android or plain SMS?
No. Mage messaging works over iMessage only today. The website chat is the other surface, and it uses the same brain and the same safety rules.
I signed up and got no text.
Mage texts you first only if you texted Mage before you signed up. If you started on the website, open a thread and text Mage. It answers from there. See Create your account and link your number.
Can I bet on prediction markets?
Yes. Say what you want to bet on and the amount. Mage finds the market on Polymarket, shows the price, and asks you to confirm. The feature is rolling out now — if your prediction balance is not set up yet, Mage tells you and nothing is placed. See Prediction markets.
Mage got my token wrong. What do I do?
Reply "no". Then ask again and pin the chain — "on rh", "on solana", or "on base" — or paste the contract address. Mage always shows the exact token on the card before you approve.
